Nanee's Review of Wolf Haven by Lindsay McKenna
Some things can never be forgotten. A helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Capture. Torture. Now U.S. Navy nurse Skylar Pascal is struggling to regain control of her life after a trauma that nearly destroyed her. After losing so much, an ideal job at the Elk Horn Ranch in Wyoming offers Sky something she thought she'd never find again…hope.
Former SEAL Grayson McCoy has his own demons. But something about Elk Horn's lovely-yet-damaged new nurse breaks something loose. Compassion—and passion. And even as Gray works with Sky to piece her confidence back together, something deeper and more tender begins to unfurl between them. Something that could bring her back to life.
But not even the haven of Elk Horn Ranch is safe from dangers. And all of Sky's healing could be undone by the acts of one malicious man
I thought this story was very intriguing, emotinal and sexy as hell. I loved the characters, especially Gray and Sky. Gray is a sexy as hell, a seal turned rancher/Wildlife Conservation manager. I loved his confidence and his ability to bring Sky out of her misery. He's a genuinely sweet, hard working guy who knows about PTSD because he suffers from it as well. Sky is a tough as nails women who was captured and tortured over seas, she wants her life back but suffers severe PTSD and can't seem t function in life never mind getting back to being a nurse in the ER> When she gets a job as a assistant to Gray on the Ranch she starts to feel, Gray brings her out of her shell and shows her there is a way to get by, the feel again and muscle through.
I loved Gray and Sky together, besides having so much in common for having PTSD and being in the service they share a love of animals of all kinds especially wolves and nature. Love the three they rescued and nurtured. Such a sweet and emotional story of the power of love. The only complaint is it was a a little drawn out in the middle with the trucking company and stallker but otherwise I thought the story was well written, intriguing and so sexy and loving. Man Gray is hot as hell. I want to say more but don't want to ruin anything. 4 stars
