Blog Tour Secret Fire by Morticia Knight - Pride Promotions

Book Name: Secret Fire (Uniform Encounters 5)
Author Name: Morticia Knight
Cover Artist: Posh Gosh
Publisher: Totally Bound

Police officer Zach and Fire Marshal Daryl would be perfect together—if they would ever quit fighting long enough to find out. A devastating fire and the secret behind it almost keeps them from getting what they really need—each other.
Mesa police officer Zach is a fun-loving guy. Now that he’s hit the big three-oh, he’s looking to stop the hook-up train and find someone he can get serious about. When a mutual friend suggests Fire Marshal Daryl, Zach assumes he must be joking. The surly marshal has given cranky a new meaning. It’s unfortunate, though, since he is one fine-looking man.
Daryl has sworn off relationships ever since he caught his ex-partner cheating. He’s always taken everything in life seriously—from jobs to relationships—and is afraid he might be alone in that regard. Certain he can’t risk love again, he panics when he sees his secret crush Zach approaching him at a police versus firemen softball game. He’s nervous, as he is socially challenged with a tendency to blurt out the wrong things. It gets worse when he realises their shared buddy gave Zach a push. He assumes that Zach is only talking to him out of pity.
Zach has been pissed off at Daryl ever since they got into a verbal sparring match at the park. Yet, when Daryl comes to his aid during an explosive fire, Zach wonders what secrets might be hidden beneath the layers Daryl has built to protect himself from the world—and love. A night of passion turns into the possibility of something more as they struggle to find their way to one another. But all of that is threatened when there is a devastating fire that causes many people to lose their lives. As they work together to uncover the truth, someone thinks they’ve asked too many questions—and plans to stop them before they can ask any more.

Without letting go of his lover, he leaned over him to check the time on the digital clock. It was almost noon. Zach would need a shower and something to eat. Daryl and the kitchen weren’t the best of friends, but they practiced the occasional d├ętente. He was sure he could put something together for him.
“Darlin’, it’s twelve. You don’t want to be late for your shift.”
Zach grumbled and snuggled closer to him.
So nice.
“No shift for me today.”
“It’s Saturday.”
“Yup. I got it covered.”
Daryl leaned back to see Zach’s face. Zach twisted in his hold, rubbed his eyes then gazed back at Daryl.
“I was tired of your shit. I came over here last night to have it out with you and I wanted to make sure you had the whole day to make it up to me.”
Daryl cupped his face in his hands and looked directly at him. “You have my whole life.”
Tears formed at the corner of Zach’s eyes and Daryl kissed them away. He pulled him to his chest and rocked his lover in his arms. Zach responded, his caresses to Daryl’s body becoming more urgent, more needy. Reluctantly, Daryl broke their embrace.
“Hey.” Zach was pouting.
Daryl stroked his cheek. “I’m certain I could slay dragons with my breath and I’m sure the rest of me reeks as well. Let me take a quick shower and I’ll be right back here with you.”
Grabbing his wrist, Zach stilled it. “Not unless I go with you.”
Smiling, Daryl kissed the inside of Zach’s arm. “Whatever you want.”
“I want you, so hopefully we’re in agreement on that.”
Ogling his lover’s ass as he rolled out of bed, Daryl thanked the universe again that Zach hadn’t given up on him. Now that he knew Zach was his all weekend, he hoped to engage in a wide range of dirty activities with him. However, he wanted to make love to him slowly and thoroughly first. He wanted to say with his body what he had said with his words the night before.
I didn’t imagine that, did I?
He cleared his throat. In the light of day, without the liquid courage, could he be so free with his feelings?
Don’t keep being an idiot.
“Come on, tiger. I thought you wanted to get in the shower with me and rub your soapy hands all over my hot body.”
“I love you.”
Daryl was struck with terror at the shocked expression on Zach’s face. Maybe he had imagined it. Had hoped so much for it to be true he had hallucinated that Zach had said it. Zach launched himself at him, bouncing them both on the mattress. He curled around Daryl’s body like a cat and Daryl was sorry he hadn’t taken his tank and boxers off the night before. Truthfully, he couldn’t remember when his other clothes had come off.
“I love you too. But I have something very important to ask you. Will you shower with me?”
Laughter bubbled up from inside Daryl.
“Oh, Zach, I enjoy you.”
“Then enjoy me in the shower, come on.”

He let go of Daryl, pushed up from the bed and held out his hand. Gratefully, Daryl took it, anxious to get the shower out of the way so they could move on to other things. All of the things he wanted to do with the man he loved.

 Author Bio:

M/M Erotic Romance author Morticia Knight enjoys a good saucy tale – after all, who doesn’t? Since she loves several genres, you may find your heroes in a contemporary, historical, paranormal or sci-fi setting. One of her passions is bringing people's fantasies to life on the page, because life is too short for even one boring moment. Her stories are volcanic in heat, deep in emotion, and sprinkled with doses of humor.
When not indulging in her obsession for books, she loves the outdoors, film and music. The Pacific Northwest is the ideal spot to enjoy both hiking and beachcombing. Once upon a time she was the singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. She now resides on the northern coast of Oregon, where the constant rain and fog remind her of visits to family in England and Scotland when she was a child.
She is currently working on the Gin & Jazz series about the glitz and glamour of 1920’s Hollywood and additional installments of the Uniform Encounters series, with a new series about those luscious men in uniform coming out later this year.
