She's stronger, faster than her human self, but haunted by bloodlust and the loss of her beloved younger sister. Friendless and lost in enemy territory, Rachel must rely on Alex Wellington, a former nemesis and centuries old vampire who looks like a college football player.
As Rachel goes deep into vamp territory, she learns there is more to the vampire life than killing humans. She also discovers another side to Alex. He is more than a murderer, he is someone that she starts to fall for. Rachel faces the ultimate choice--her new life and unexpected love or the family she left behind, the family that may now want her dead.
I enjoyed Rival and couldn't wait to read another story by Lacy Yager. The story is told between each character so you get a take on what's going through each characters head, although sometimes confusing and bouncing around too much, it sort of worked in the end. I enjoyed these characters, especially Rachel who is a newly turned vampire and out of her element and in comes Alex to help her or "watch her". I enjoyed Alex's character, I like how there's more to him then we first get a glimpse of, I also like how he wants to change and be better, not like the general. Rachael wants to take Stephen down with or without Alex's help. A lot of action and intrigue and some love thrown in. Although Rival to me flowed better and I couldn't put it down I enjoyed this one, it was interesting and intriguing. I Can't wait to read more by Lacy, I look forward to the next in the series. 3.5 - 4 stars stars
She's the unlikeliest vampire hunter ever. A scientist.
Seventeen-year-old science prodigy Genevieve Quinn never thought she would be kidnapped from her college campus by a vampire. Or that said vampire would want her help on a science project. Genevieve has no intention of complying, but when an escape attempt turns deadly, it is a vampire that comes to her rescue.
Vampire Chad Matthews is an atypical specimen. He’s good-looking, in a dangerous kind of way. But that’s not what attracts Genevieve… it’s the shadows behind his eyes. As Genevieve and Chad team up to find a way to defeat a monster even worse than killer vampires, she discovers that not everything can be explained by science—like falling in love.
This novella (30k words) is book four in the Unholy Alliance series.
Another intriguing story by Lacy, I enjoyed this story, although like Shadow Allegiance it gets a litte confusing when it jumps around from character to character but...I thought it was well written and kept me interested. I always enjoy this authors characters , the warlocks are fascinating in this story and of course the vamps and now The Cats. This author knows how to write mysterious, intriguing and unique stories. I love Genevieve and Chad together, they both seem so happy and its a new love. Andi well I'm torn with her but I think she'll get a HEA someday. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Another great story by Lacy, Love to get trapped in her stories, very much recommend. 4 stars
