Can a battle-scarred warrior . . .
Stay sober. Get deployed. Lead his platoon. Those are the only things that matter to Sergeant First Class Reza Iaconelli. What he wants is for everyone to stay out of his way; what he gets is Captain Emily Lindberg telling him how to deal with his men. Fort Hood's newest shrink is smart as a whip and sexy as hell. She's also full of questions—about the army, its soldiers, and the agony etched on Reza's body and soul.
. . . open his heart to love?
Emily has devoted her life to giving soldiers the care they need—and deserve. Little does she know that means facing down the fierce wall of muscle that is Sergeant Iaconelli like it's just another day at the office. When Reza agrees to help her understand what makes a soldier tick, she's thrilled. Too bad it doesn't help her unravel the sexy warrior in front of her who stokes her desire and touches a part of her she thought long dead. He's the man who thinks combat is the only escape from the demons that haunt him. The man who needs her most of all...
First I want to thank Author Jessica Scott for her service, you are a hero in my book.
When I first met Reza in Until There Was You (Coming Home #2) I was hooked on him, I loved his honor, his courage and his way of protecting others but sadly not himself, he was a alcoholic and he didn't want to stop drinking and took risks.
In this book it was all about Reza and I loved the In depth way the author delved into his character showing us all his flaws, the good bad and ugly of Reza, the courage and Honor and the standing up for what's right but also his failures and scars. I absolutely loved his character. I loved how we got to see Claire some in this story too. Always loved her and Reza's friendship . Emily wants to make a difference, she felt that being part of the Army she could make a difference but soon realized its a battle that she can't win and she has her own life battles to deal with outside the Army. When Emily and Reza first meet its interesting to hear their thoughts on the other, the flirting later and their firsts together. When Emily goes to Reza for help with learning about the Army, the ins and outs, what makes soldiers tick so she can better deal with her case load, they go from just friends to so much more. I loved these two characters together, they both need the other, they want to lean on the other and be there for each other. Very emotional story with suicides, Army policies and politics we don't always agree with and of course honor and courage. This story was well written and amazing, it touched me..there's just something about man facing his own demons but putting others ahead of himself. Amazing. 5 stars.
